On the afternoon of May 22nd, the 103rd to 107th Youth Strategy Doctoral Forum were held successfully in College of Civil Engineering in TYUT. Bai Shao-hua (from Shanxi Jing Tai Jiao Tong Jian She Yun Ying Ltd.), Prof. Lei Hong-gang (director of Steel Structure Institute), Prof. Li Tie-Ying (from Construction Engineering Department) was invited as the assessment experts. Doctoral candidates and post-graduate students in relevant research directions attend the forum.
The forum conducts four agendas which are Doctoral Candidate’s Report, Expert’s Comment, Ask and Discussion, Assess. Qiu Bin, a 2017-grade doctoral candidate, made a research report focus on the fatigue problem of joint of the suspension crane truss, and described analysis method of truss structure’s fatigue load spectrum and fatigue life feasibility. Meanwhile, Qiu Bin discussed the fatigue life evaluation method of the high-strength bolt in the bolt-sphere joint. In addition, the speaker also described the responsibility and mission of civil engineering students in the new era based on his own learning and research experience. In the end, the three assessment experts discussed and asked questions about the research content, research quality and research contribution based on the report delivered by the keynote speaker, and gave excellent comments.
Doctoral students are an important new force in the construction of “Double-First-class”. This forum comprehensively demonstrates the research spirit and academic quality of doctoral candidates in the College of Civil Engineering. All teachers and students of our college should take “First-class Strategy” as the goal to build a first-class college, a first-class specialty and a first-class research team.
