On the morning of April 11, 2021, the award ceremony for the "Du Yong-Li Mei Couple's Inspirational Scholarship" was held in the fifth floor conference room. Vice Dean Dong Xiaoqiang, Deputy Secretary Lu Qian, the evaluation committee and all teachers and students of the Institute of Geotechnical and Underground Engineering attended the ceremony. The award ceremony was hosted by Lu Qian.

The "Du Yong-Li Mei Couple Inspirational Scholarship" was established by Mr. Du Yong and his wife, Ms. Li Mei, to sponsor young teachers, doctoral students and master students in the discipline of geotechnical engineering in our institute.

Professor Bai Xiaohong, chairman of the evaluation committee, read out the list of winners of the "Du Yong-Li Mei Couple Inspirational Scholarship" for 2020. Two teachers, He Bin and Xiao Ze'an, received the "Du Yong-Li Mei Couple Inspirational Award for Young Teachers"; six postgraduate students, Li Jie, Yao Xin, Niu Shiwei, Chang Honglin, Wang Jingxia and Gao Liming, received the "Du Yong-Li Mei Couple Inspirational Scholarship". Dong Xiaoqiang then presented the prizes to the winning students and teachers.

After the awards were presented, representatives of the winning teachers and students delivered their speeches, thanking Mr Du Yong and Mrs Li Mei for their encouragement and financial support and the Institute's training and education. Professor Du Yong delivered a speech in which he combined his experience in engineering practice, talked about the important position of geotechnical engineering in engineering practice, explained the importance of scientific research and encouraged all teachers and students of the Institute to continue their efforts and contribute to the development of the Institute.

Dong Xiaoqiang concluded his speech by expressing his gratitude to Mr Du Yong and Mrs Li Mei for their patriotic sentiments of " Despite being overseas, the College is still on thier mind. ". While congratulating the eight students and teachers, he hoped that they would be more diligent in their studies, devoted to scientific research, innovative, enterprising, serving the society and serving the motherland. He also said that in the future, the College would vigorously strengthen alumni work and university-enterprise cooperation, set up more scholarships, sponsor more outstanding teachers and students, and vigorously push forward the various undertakings of the College.
